Particle Size Distribution Analysis

Recent research has concluded that very fine PM, those with sizes smaller than 50 nm, so-called nanoparticles, are particularly hazardous as they can remain suspended in the air for long periods of time and are easily inhaled deep into the lungs; therefore future diesel exhaust gas purification systems need to consider these nanoparticles.

In 2007, NGK’s Diesel Laboratory introduced a particle size monitoring system (Particle Sizer) for investigating filtration efficiency of PM based on particle size.
