Diesel
Particulate Filters
Modern diesel engines have decreased
emissions, but still emit particulate matter with a wide
range of particle size. Therefore tighter PM emission standards
are being introduced in the United States, Japan and Europe
for both passenger cars and heavy duty vehicles. To meet
the regulations and to overcome the health concerns relating
to particulate emissions from diesel engines, wall flow
particulate filters are considered as a viable measure to
minimise soot emission. For cleaning the particulate emissions
of diesel engines, NGK has developed diesel particulate
filters (DPF) based on ceramic substrate Technology. The
DPF has demonstrated impressive characteristics:

The DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter), based on the well-known
HONEYCERAM® technology made of Cordierite and SiC(Silicon
Carbide), has demonstrated high filtering efficiency of
diesel particulate emissions. Applications of this technology
include passenger cars, urban and school buses, on highway
trucks, mining equipment, and forklift trucks. |
