Heavy Duty Vehicles

Diesel exhaust emission control will become a key issue in future emission regulations worldwide. Air pollution is of concern because diesel engines emit high amounts of particulates and NOx while emitting low amounts of HC and CO compared with gasoline engines.

Diesel particulates are considered a probable human carcinogen. NOx emissions cause photochemical smog and acid rain.

Heavy duty diesel vehicles utilize Large Size HONEYCERAM® (LSH, diameter up to 12”) in oxidation catalysts and selective catalyst reduction (SCR) technologies. Large Size HONEYCERAM® can also be combined with diesel particulate filter (DPF) technology.

NGK produces ceramic substrates focused on diesel exhaust emission control.
